About
Dorothy Kristin Hanna is a multi-disciplinary artist, who integrates healing with creation. Art for Dorothy is exploring the natural rhythms that are innate and interconnected with all of nature. The living body is amazing in the sense that we are an integration of all life forms. Without holding back there are no two identical physical bodies or beings. Therefore, releasing what is inside freely with no filter allows us to see one’s soul. The timeline of creation is infinite, but the timeline of one’s life is short and sweet. Dorothy (The Red Dot) has been known from the beginning as a creator. As she rolls through time, her work is ever changing and her life has given her an opportunity to share what’s inside created by her sensory experiences and intellectual intuitive process. OIL PAINT has always been Dorothy’s first love in art. Her paintings began with “Diary” work on canvas in the 1970’s and now 50 years later, interpret life through mysteriously moving vibrations on canvas. Dorothy’s life in DANCE began with 15 Nutcrackers and many romantic ballets under a strict disciplinarian teacher from the Royal Academy of Dance. Classical Ballet demanded perfection which was practiced daily until she was 21. At that time she began to have dreams, about new less structured performances, which have guided her until this very day. Dance became the embodiment of the self; and the body was used as an instrument to express emotional studies, freeing the spirit to allow improvisational dance to evolve into full-length theater performances. Dance is visual art that appears in the moment and disappears just as quickly. Costumes, light, color, voice, creativity, natural movements, being true to that moment, and letting go of each moment became the choreography. Dorothy’s spiritual mentor is early 20th century dancer and improvisational innovator, Isadora Duncan. Being the minimalist that she is, trying to say more with less, Dorothy is once again painting, but in a square box with colored lights, music and moving people; creating visual poetry with bodies. Dorothy created a word “Arodasi“ for her dance (“Isadora” spelled backwards), a reflection of Isadora’s ideas in the present moment. Arodasi® has been trademarked to apply to all of the creations from Dorothy’s soul. For The Red Dot (Dorothy), FILM is also painting, this time using the components of light, music, text, personalities, costumes, context of place, and editing to create a visual experience, which is captured on video. Film is a canvas for textures, narratives, poetic images and deep contemplative thoughts. There is no need to compete with Hollywood, but there is always an open field for Creation in the World of Film. Film allows a beginning, middle and end--and then, it is finished. Unlike traditional oil painting, The Red Dot gets to be with people and not alone in the studio. Collaboration is her greatest love in film, listening to and incorporating the ideas of other fellow artists. It becomes a spiritual experience of like minds in an extremely positive way. The world is a nicer place when one shares and Dorothy loves sharing. It is her nature. Dorothy began a study of the Feldenkrais® method in the early 1990’s which lead to a form of dancing someone on the healing table for mind and body healing. She teaches Arodasi® Relaxation Therapy at her home studio for individuals and corporate clients. In a nutshell, Arodasi® Films, Arodasi® Dance, and Arodasi® Relaxation Therapy are all for the other--so one may begin to open a space inside of oneself; to explore one’s soul, one’s desire to create, one’s style that comes from within. Arodasi® can be visual arts, music, dance, healing art and it must be original. It is finding one’s path in art, setting oneself free. If you find a painting that speaks to you, stay with that vibration; put it on your wall and live with it. The color, shapes and frequencies will work with you in your search for your soul, in your innate desire to empty your pain body and be at peace.
